DBCS Reminder of Week 2/1/2020 中英文

Dear Parents,

This Sat, for now, our plan is to have regular classes from 9:00-12:30pm. Our plan could change if the coronavirus situation changes. Please check communications from school on Friday and early Sat morning for possible changes.

As our parents, we are closely monitoring the coronavirus situation. Our decision will be made upon information from the following three agencies. (1) US CDC recommendations (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html) ; (2) Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Health (http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/); and (3) Walnut Valley Unified School District (https://www.wvusd.k12.ca.us/apps/news/article/1154792). Currently, according to LA Dept. of Public Health, " The risk from the novel coronavirus 2019 to spread in Los Angeles County residents is deemed to be low at this time." Therefore, Dept. of Public Health recommend, "Los Angeles County residents, students, workers, and visitors should continue to engage in their regular activities".

Safety, including health safety, is always our top priority. Following the recommendations of the above agencies, we ask (1) Students with fever, please stay at home. (2) students who visited Hubei or in close contact with people visiting from Hubei, particularly Wuhan in recent past, to follow CDC's recommendation of voluntary quarantine for 14 days. (3) for all other students who have not traveled to China recently or without close contact with people visiting from Hubei,  please also practice good personal and public health hygiene. Teachers will remind all students in the beginning of the class too. (4) We will make extra efforts to sanitize the classroom and add hand-wash "break" for each session of class.

We understand that some parents prefer to exercise extra caution and want their kids to skip Chinese school.  Our teachers will prepare e-file of homework assignments. Please send us an email with student's name and class. We will send you homework assignments and other supplementary materials.

On 3/7/2020, we will have a Mock SAT II Chinese test. The test is given by National Council of Chinese school. It will be a good chance to get familiar with the SAT II Chinese test. We strongly recommend all students above Level 6 class to take the test. Through the test, students and teachers can identify issues in Chinese study and make adjustments accordingly in the future. The handbook about the test can be found from this link
https://docs.google.com/a/ncacls ... jUxOTBlMWEwNjEyNGQ. The registration fee for this test is $8. The registration deadline is the this weekend. Please register in person or by email.
