DBCS Reminder of week 08/20/2022
Dear Parents,
This Sat, 8/20, Chinese school will have regular classes from 9:00-12:30pm. Please mark your calendar, (or check our calendar online often), 9/3 is a Saturday during the Labor Day long weekend. Chinese school will have no class.
With everyone’s support, the first day of school was relatively smooth. Here are some issues that we want your attention:
1. Sending your kids to school on time. It is Saturday, we know. However, it is essential that parents can send their kids to school on time so that they can start their classes on time. Also, please pick up kids on time. It is essential for parents or the person in charge of sending students to school and picking up them to know which Chinese classroom they should go in the morning and where to pick them up after the elective class.
2. Switching Chinese classes: students may find many reasons to switch Chinese classes. All class changes have to go through the office and we assign students according to their age, level, as well as each class size. If you find your kids are not in the ideal level (either the level is too low or the level is too high), please let us know. Otherwise, we will continue to observe our students and if we find anyone that need to change levels, we will communicate with parents.
3. Elective classes: meanwhile, most of our elective classes have more students than we expected. It is understandable that we cancelled two elective classes due to the lack of interests. Now, we want to announce three elective classes:
a. Chinese Homework Help: designed for students who do not have mandarin speaking family background and parents are not able to help students with their Chinese homework. This class is currently open for all levels. We will have a supervising teacher and several TAs to help. Classroom: 303
b. Arts and Crafts: Designed for young students, simple drawing and making crafts. Younger students currently in the drawing class is encouraged to switch to this class because this class will be more tailored for them. We will open registration for this class for this week. Next week, we will divide the current drawing class and put younger students to this class.
c. Voice and Singing: Open to everyone, the class will be taught by professional voice and choir teacher. Students will learn to sing and have fun singing together. We will open registration for this class from this week. Once we have enough students register, we will start the class.
4. Dance class for Parents: If we have enough parents interested in taking the dance class from 10:30-11:30am, we will start to the class from next week 8/27. So, if interested, please sign up. The class will also be in the Aerobic Room, wooden floor and wall to wall mirror. Once we have enough parents sign up, we will start the class.
5. We also may divide some levels of Chinese classes in the future. Please settle down your class choice if you are still trying out. This way, we can have more accurate number for each class to make decisions. |
