Diamond Bar Chinese School TA

There will be a meeting on Saturday 9/8/12 at 8:30 am. We will be discussing TA rules and basic guidelines.

Diamond Bar Chinese School TA Rules

Warnings

1.First time: call parents
2.Second time: call parents
3.Third time: letter to parents

Follow the following to prevent warnings:


•No later than 9:00 am


•No eating or drinking in classrooms and hallway(water is allowed).


•No sleeping during volunteering


•No earphones, cellphones, and any other electronic devices


•No socializing with anyone who is not part of Chinese school during

volunteering


•No wandering around the school during volunteering


•No more than five excused absences each semester


•Contact the school at least 1 week ahead for absence


•Contact the school as soon as possible or at least before 9 am on the day you

are sick


•Quiet activity is allowed (reading, studying,doing homework, etc.)


•Be respectful to students, TA, teachers, staff,and parents


Community Service Hours

•Certificates will be given out at the end of each semester

•Hours only count from 8:45 to 11:45 am

•Elective time from 11:35 am to 12:30 pm only count if you are assigned to an

elective class

Awards

•Hard-working TAs will be rewarded at the DBCS Ceremonyat the end of the

year

Uniform and Nametag

•Put on name tags when check-in every Saturdayand put them away when

check-out


•Keep the uniform somewhere safe in the house

Interview

•Held in August (date varies every year)

•Every 10 minutes from 1-5 pm

•Location: TBA


Election


•Will be held a few weeks before the Chineseschool ends every year


•Candidates must serve at least one full year volunteering at Diamond Bar

Chinese School and have 0 warning before election.


•Before the day of election, TA may nominate himself/herself or other TA to be

the council candidates.

•DBCS Principal and/or office staff will accept the qualified nominated candidates.


•Qualified candidates will give an optional speech on election day.


•Everyone gets one vote


•No one is allowed to vote for another person who is not present on the election

day.

•Among the candidates, first place becomes President, second place becomes

Vice President, and third place becomes Secretary.


•Revote any tie election between the two candidates or among the candidates.

•The elected TA may be impeached if he/she gets two warnings while serving in

a position


•DBCS Principal may request re-election if the current council(s) is/are

not effective or have conducts that are detrimental to DBCS


Positions

1.President

•Required to be fluent in listening and speakingin both English and Chinese

•Hold meetings at least once in a semester

•Assign TAs to the appropriate classrooms according to the evaluation and

interview after discussing with office staff


•Update website/email

•Office work


•Regularly communicate with Principal andoffice staff

2.Vice President

•Required to be fluent in listening and speakingin both English and Chinese

•Help/support president

•Update website/email

•Office work

3.Secretary

•Required to be fluent in listening and speakingin both English and Chinese

•Take notes in the meetings

•Organize TA folder

•Make copies

•Office work
