DBCS Reminder of Week 12/8

Dear Parents,
This Saturday, 12/8, Chinese school will have regular classes from 9:00-12:30pm.
Next Sat 12/15 will be our last class for this year. New semester starts Jan 12 after the winter break.
Next Sat, 12/15 is the final exam day. Most classes will have final exam. Please help our students to review and prepare for the exam.
Two exciting events are planned for next year but the preparation can start right now:
First, Feb 9, 2012, DBCS and DBCAA will host the annual Diamond Bar Chinese New Year Celebration. At the event, we will have a special exhibition of art works by our students, such as drawings, calligraphy, paintings, and writings. We will let parents and teachers to select the winners of each group (by age and by category). We will give award to our winners. The deadline for submission is Jan 19th. Parents and students can start to prepare for this. The works can be done at home independently.
Second, we will try to form two teams to participate in Regional Chinese Culture-History Competition next year around May. This event tests students’ knowledge about Chinese culture and history. The format is a Jeopardy (the TV Show) style competition. A team must have four students. There are three possible groups. To prepare, DBCS will have a special class to teach Chinese culture and history.  That class will start first week next year (Jan 12th). Participants can be nominated by their teachers or parents. Teachers already began the nomination process. If you are interested to have your child take advantage of this opportunity, please come to office and let us know.

本週六（12月8日）正常上課。下週六，12月15日為本學期最后一節課，大多數班級會有期末考試。希望家長幫助同學們複習和準備。
學校正在準備兩個活動，歡迎家長和同學的參與：
一、舉辦鑽石吧新春書畫展，參加的作品可以為書法，繪畫，以及作文。家長和老師會在不同年齡，不同項目組選出優勝。傑出作品將在2月9日鑽石吧新春園遊會上展出。參加園遊會的領袖人物將會為我們的獲獎學生頒獎。作品可以在家獨立完成，參賽截止日期為1月19日。家長和學生從現在起就可以準備了！
二、學校將組隊參加南加州中華文史大賽，比賽以搶答的形式進行，每個學校每個年齡組可以有一個隊，四人。為了準備這項比賽，學校將開設中華文史講座課（1月12日開始），為參加同學培訓。目前，各班老師已經開始提名參賽候選人，家長也可以提名，特別是對中華文史有興趣的同學可以來報名。
