DBCS Reminder of Week 1/26
Dear Parents,
This Saturday, 1/26, DBCS will have regular classes.
First, we want to apologize for last week's late door-opening problem that affected 4 classes and 1 computer elective class. Since we use facilities at DBHS, our custodian is assigned by DBHS. Recently, DBHS has been rotating their custodians, rather than assign one custodian for us like before. As a result, last week's custodian got the wrong instruction and did not open the intended classrooms. We were unaware of the custodian change and could not find the new custodian's phone. It took a while for us to finally get the problem solved. Two classes were left outside for 40 mins and the computer class was forced to move to a different lab. We are very sorry for that. During the week, we talked to the general manager of DBHS about it. We clarified many things and established proper contact channels to prevent problems in the future. Though DBHS will continue to rotating their custodians and problems will be hard to completely avoid, with the contact channels worked out, we hope the negative affect of their new system will be minimal in the future.
As the Chinese New Year approaches, many celebrations and events are coming up. Diamond Bar Chinese American Association and DBCS will host the Diamond Bar Chinese New Year Celebration on Feb 23. Let's mark the calendar. This Sat, the City of Walnut will have a Chinese New Year Celebration Event. Please visit our website www.dbcaa.org for information.
For students who are interested in taking the Mock SAT test in March, the test organizer requires $8 per students for material fee. DBCS will provide the test classroom and test administrator for free as a service for our students and community. The test will be on March 9, Sat. You are welcomed to sign-up no matter if you are current student or past student. All DBCS TAs are welcomed to participate, as well as friends that might find such test helpful.
Our dance class last Sat was a huge success. We will closely monitor the size of the class as well as the age distribution of the class. Once we have enough little ones, we will try to separate the class so that our pre-teen and teen students and our younger students can all enjoy.
