Dear Parents,
Our registration is ongoing with a slow start. The 1st day of class will be on Aug 15. All registered students can pick up their textbook on 8/14, 6:30-8:00pm, at the front gate of Diamond Bar High School. We will send a reminder again next Wed.
If you have already registered for 2020-21 Chinese class, thank you very much. If you have not, please do. If you have friends that may be interested in taking our classes, please share our information with them and welcome them to join us.
This academic year will be very challenging for everyone. We understand that online language learning is not ideal. However, it is our belief that hard time calls for extraordinary efforts from all of us, teachers, students and parents. We think uninterrupted Chinese learning is crucial, because our experiences told us that some gap years or even months may be too much for the student to get back to normal learning pace and may therefore lose interest. Once that happens, it will be very hard to pick up later on. In a language environment we live in, a slow but steady Chinese learning experience would be most beneficial. This is what we learned from years of both good examples and sad lessons.
Online learning is hard but not impossible. We will take several measures to ensure success.
1. Small class size, K to 1 levels will be capped at 6, the rest at 10.
2. Split sessions for lower levels, as youngsters often have hard time to stay focused for long sessions, we will split into two parts, one on Wed and one on Sat.
3. Free individual Chinese homework tutoring available for students that can not get enough help from the family
To help those families hard hit by the pandemic financially, we also will provide financial aid.
For many of us, Chinese classes are a part of our life. Now, the way we teach and learn will be changed, but we should not let students' Chinese learning be interrupted.
