Dear Parents,
This Sat, 5/23 will be the last day of this 2019-2020 school year for Chinese school. It has been a very challenging year for all of us. We thank parents and students for your support. We hope our students have improved not only their Chinese, but also their understanding of life and their courage to fight through difficult times.
Looking forward, it feels strange that we still have not start registration for the year 2020-2021. One thing is for sure, that Diamond Bar Chinese School will have 2020-2021 academic year. However, the starting date, calendar, and format have not been decided yet. Most of these questions can only be answered when re-opening continues and Walnut Valley Unified School District and Diamond Bar High School have a blueprint for next academic year. Once we know, we will start registration for next year. Rest assured, DBCS will always put the safety of our students and teachers first. Next week, we will start pre-registration which does not require tuition submission, so that we can better prepare for class assignment and textbook preparation.
Due to the pandemic, DBCS has cancelled classes several times. We will give all current students credits to use for next year's tuition. Details will follow when registration officially starts.
We understand that the pandemic may hurt some families financially much harder than others. To help students and families in need, we will start a fundraising campaign to provide some tuition help to those hit hard by the pandemic. Once our registration for the new academic year starts, those in need please contact us for tuition reduction. We will see how our fundraising goes and will try to help as much as we can.
It is the end of academic year, which means it is the award time. This year, we will send award certificate to those outstanding students recommended by their teacher. Also, we will post winners of our poem recitation competition, which unfortunately did not complete to include level 7 and 9 due to cancelled class. Congratulations to these winners and we hope you challenge yourself to participate the City Magazine Poem Recitation Competition in July. We will give paper certificate when we get back to school.
Due to the pandemic, two items out students usually get at the end of academic year: certificate of completion and Chinese school report card, will NOT be given. Teachers do have past test scores and class evaluation available, if parents want to know, please do not hesitate to send the teacher a message.
This summer, DBCS will have an online summer program that focuses on Chinese culture, communication, and fun. Right now, we have some parents showed interests. We will soon try to talk to parents about the best time for everyone. Other interested parents can also let us know. As many summer activities will not be possible, we hope our program can bring be "cool" for our students during the hot summer.
Last but not least, we want to thank all parents for your support! We see how our students improve, and we also know together we can do more to help them improve.
We wish everyone a great summer, stay happy and stay health!
